The Foster Care Process
Below is an overview of how the process looks.
Step 1:
Info package is requested from applicant to McMan
Step 2:
Info package is sent from McMan to applicant
Step 3:
Applicant fills out
initial application and
additional documentation
Step 4:
Home Visit from
McMan to applicant
Step 5:
Secondary Information &
documentation requested
from McMan and filled out
by applicant
Step 6:
Second home
visit scheduled
Step 7:
All required documents
and references are
completed and submitted
to McMan
Step 8:
A home writer is
assigned
Step 9:
Mandatory Training
scheduled for applicant
(32 hours)
Step 10:
Home study writer
conducts 3-6 home visits
and completes SAFE
(Structured Analysis
Family Evaluation)
home study
Step 11:
Home study and documentation
completed and submitted to Children’s Services for review
Step 12:
Licensing has 15 days to
review application and
additional information may
be requested
Step 13:
Approval of home study
complete, licensing
appointment scheduled to
take place in the home
Step 14:
Licensing approves
the home
Step 15:
Contract signed & all final
documents gathered
Step 16:
Applicants and home are
approved to provide care
for children
